Remove The Nails

The first step involved in removing the door jamb is to remove any nails or screws that are present in the damaged area. You cannot take care of the strike plate if your nails are not off so make sure that you take off the nails to loosen it up.

Set The Router

Then try to remove the 1x4s and start using a chisel in order to square the corners of a routed recess. Moreover, try to set the poplar patch at the right place and also mark it well for cutting.

Cut The Patch

The final three steps of door repairing of door jamb involve cutting the patch to fit an important size on the miter box. You should also glue and nail the patch to the door jamb.

Final Steps

The last two steps involved in a repairing a door strike plate involves sanding the patch smooth by using a random orbit sander and then applying a primer coat and the two paint topcoats to the designated repaired area.

    Installing a strike plate doesn’t seem like a very hard job but you need to think again. It can be quite tricky when you have no idea how to do it. I tried a few times and although I managed to install one in record time (for me) I still find it difficult.
